NOVA Lighting Services realised the need for this speciality service as all fluorescent lamps are hazardous waste.
We dispose of this waste in accordance with legislation and in a manner that will not impact negatively on the environment.
All fluorescent lamps contain small amounts of mercury that is a hazardous waste that can have detrimental effects on the environment if disposed of in the incorrect manner. Nova Lighting Services accumulate large amounts of used fluorescent lamps nationwide and have policies that make sure we dispose of this waste in the correct manner.
Used fluorescent lamps are crushed using Nova Lighting lamp crushing machines, stored and contained in drums which are then disposed of in Highly Hazardous waste sites. We will not allow our waste to become a part of the general waste stream as we recognize this will have adverse effects on the environment. We have a responsibility to the environment and this has become a large part of our culture and forms a part of how we operate.
We offer our lamp disposal services as part of our lighting maintenance services and there are no extra charges for lamp disposal. We will supply certificates of safe disposal to customers upon completion of crushing and disposing of all lamp products.
